JOB DESCRIPTION
Role and Responsibilities
The maintenance/custodial assistant will be responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping of all church buildings and equipment.
Duties
- Inspect church facilities on a regular basis
- Ensure the buildings and grounds are well kept at all times
- Execute a program of housekeeping, security and minor general repairs
- Handle any minor repairs of furniture, building and equipment
- Assist in setting up and taking down tables, etc for various church functions
- Perform work request originating in the church office
- Cooperate with full time maintenance/custodial staff to complete assigned tasks
Skills/Qualifications:
Knowledge of: Common tools and materials used in building and public facility maintenance, basic operation of electrical pumps and motors; modern construction; safe work practices and policies; standard practices, methods, materials and equipment used in facilities maintenance, occupational hazards and safe work practices associated with the work; operation and application of a variety of tools and equipment associated with the work. Knowledge of building and construction trade relative to facility and equipment maintenance and repair including some knowledge of plumbing electrical carpentry painting and locksmith.
Preferred Skills
Skill in: Performing required maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment operating vehicles tools and equipment in a safe manner; assessing facility and equipment problems and performing or recommending appropriate solutions and/or repairs; accurately and legibly compete routine forms and reports.
Ability to: Perform janitorial and custodian services in a multi-use facility environment, use hand and power tools skillfully and safely; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, work from sketches and drawings operate modern communication devices and office equipment work independently understand and follow oral and written instructions learn and retain specific and general information concerning facilities equipment, functions and projects work effectively with others encountered in the course of work.
